Make a place easier on your senses

A small plan for sound, light, touch and space.

By Kitewise · 1 min read · Updated 28 September 2026

The red-haired Kitewise character chooses a quieter alcove and adjusts her headphones.

Notice the situation

Pick a place you use often. What feels difficult there: background sound, bright light, crowded seating, a texture? Preferences differ, and the same place may feel different on another day.

Choose an adjustment

You might try a different seat, a quieter time or a short break somewhere comfortable. Use supports that suit you, while staying aware of traffic, alarms and other safety signals.

Keep what helps

Check whether the change made the activity more manageable. Adjust it or leave it behind. You do not need to tolerate distress to prove you can participate.
