Agree on the basics
Choose an activity both people want. Discuss the time, place, cost and way home. For a first meeting with someone new, use a public place and tell someone you trust your plan.
Ask rather than guess
Talk about communication preferences and physical boundaries. Silence, uncertainty or previous agreement is not permission for something new. Either person can change their mind.
Leave space for a different outcome
You do not owe another date, touch or a detailed explanation. Respect the other person’s no as well. If someone pressures or frightens you, move toward safety and seek help.
